What makes you think that is not just a very unripe peach? Until the fruit matures the inside stone or seed kernal is often soft and squishy.

Because i did not plant the tree and have never seen it before

This looks like what we call “chayote” in Spanish. There are also prickly ones, but their thorns aren’t dangerous. It’s a type of squash, very sweet and yummy. You can cook it in water and add a bit (or a bunch) if butter. It’s ready when tender. I eat it as a snack. My mom likes to eat the seed or as she calls it, “the heart”.

It’s not a chayote that’s a vine. Looks like an immature peach picture of tree leaves/tree would help confirm

I think it may be an almond.

Wrong leaves and fruits for almond tree.

And too great a flesh to pit ratio. Also too spherical for almond.

I wonder whether it could be a native paw paw tree.

The tree looks like a peach tree and the fruit looks like a peach. It's a peach.
