IMO you need to enlarge the window so that it is lower. 33” is a pretty high window seat.

If you build a bench under that window, the glass is required to be tempered, per code. I suggest you place a furniture piece, like a settee, there instead.

It can be done. My window seat without cushion is 22.5" high and with cushion is another 4". To the top of my window sill is 35". I wouldn't make the seat any higher off the ground than 22"

Standard window seat height is 16” with a dense 2” cushion to make up the difference to the standard 18” seating height. It’s actually far better to not have the window as the seat backing, and to construct an upholstered back for people to lean back against. Having the window down to the seat requires tempered glass, and even then, leaning against the glass is a very bad idea. OK for an occasional perch, but it’s a very bad habit to develop.

@calidesign I really like the second pic that u attached. So I think I'll have to do some kind of detailing on the whole wall. Like some kind molding and then a bookcase..I just wanted a bench with some Roman shades.

Are you sure you have floor space for this? Use masking tape on the floor to layout where the bed and the window seat will be. Is there room for a nite stand? Will you have a comfortable walking space between the bed and the window seat? This isn’t a piece of furniture that can be moved if it is too close to the bed, so you need to be sure there is enough space to navigate in the dark without banging your shins.

Okay so I have decided not put in a window bench. All the reason that everyone said. It’s too high and it’ll be congested around the bedroom. So can you guys give more ideas as how to decorate it or what I can do with the window space.

Here's some ideas as don't give up the idea. The bench itself only has to be 18" - 21" deep and that can be a lovely wall in your bedroom.

This one is very deep but you can adjust the depth.

@Denise M I’m not worried about the depth , it’s just that my window sill height is 33in. It’ll be too height. And that’s not including the pillow that’ll go on top.

Hi Rayba, It will look like a sofa in front of the window. Most sofas are about 33" overall height. It will still look beautiful, especially with curtains/shades. Do you have a view that you are take advantage of?

How much space is there between the bed and the window wall? Enough for a bench?

Even a narrow bench (say 14' or less in depth) would eat into the walk space on that side. Are there nightstands to consider as well?

Guess the question becomes,is a "sitting spot" there worth it to YOU? Or would the room suit you better with simply making the window and the wonderful deep sill all that it can be?

No the bench parallel to the foot of the bed. So nightstand are not a problem.thats what I’m trying to decide. 41in isn’t a lot of space. Right?

Now I understand. Tape it out on the floor and see if the walkway left is OK for you. I have added narrow benches in similar sized areas in a bedroom,when necessary. With only 41" to the bed you do not have enough room for anything built in. Keep the floor space open. Just get a chair for the corner of the room. It would likely be more comfortable for sitting in also.

41" is an incredible amount of space between the bed and the window. It's not Grand Central Station. Most nightstands are 18" to 21" which is plenty of space to get in and out of bed. I am sure you can "steal" some inches by pushing the bed the other way also. Do what you feel is right. It all works.
