Basic paint question

Hi. I had a few rooms in my apartment painted and asked the painters to leave some of the paint behind afterwards so that I could do any touch-ups if they were needed in the future. Fast forward a few months and I recently opened up one of the paint cans but the paint has separated. If I stir it up will it mix ok and be usable or should I just buy a new can of paint?

P:aint is usually mixed in the store. When it sits for a while, it goes back to its original form. Yes, you need to stir it up, so it is all mixed up together again.

Stir very well!

Then.....get a canning-jar or 2. Pour the paint into them. IMPORTANT: Leave the LEAST air-space possible!! Add a ping-pong ball or 3 to bring up the paint-level.

The "enemy" of STORING Paint is air-VOLUME. The LESS air-space, the better. Use an old spatula to get all your paint out of the can(s).

Take a "selfie" of the paints' formula-label....AND a pic of the whole front label. If needed, print these & tape to jar.

Do this right, & your paint will keep for yeeeeeeaaaarrs!
