Honey oak trim is still in for modern and craftsman as well as other styles. It is a big job painting the trim. A painter will charge you more to paint the trim that the room. The trim must be sanded before the trim is painted or else the paint will chip off in no time.

Painting the trim in your will depend on the style of the home do you have pictures ?

We have builder grade honey oak trim. I guess it's just too "gold" for my liking. Even on here I see white trim everywhere. I just took some photos but you must ignore the clutter! It's 1:00am here and I don't feel like putting the dishes away!! Hehe! I would like to do the cabinets too. Ever since we added the backsplash I feel like its too dark. And if I had my way I would strip and restain the floors and new countertops. *sigh*. If only I had a money tree!

It's definitely dated if you are not feeling it and its not your style paint it . Will you paint or hire a painter ?

Not sure yet. I haven't completely sold myself on it. I would like to just replace it all. I really like this color combination. The darker floor with the white trim and the wall color. This is the feel I am looking for just not sure where to start.

Great pic ! Well it comes down to what you want do you have the budget ? And will you do any of the work ? will you like the trims painted or are you looking for a different profile ?

What about starting with painting your stair spindles white? Also- pic with the two doors.... Why doesn't the smaller doo have trim to the left of it? One advantage you have.... Your doors are white!!!! I say go for it! Paint the trim!

I wouldnt go white. Too "tract home" Find a Neutral off-white for a richer look. I would add tall baseboards too. Find a real lumberyard and ask if they have any "betty base" 5 1/2-7/2" tall. Cheap and will make your home look much more expensive.

I would paint the doors / windows trim in white!

@Matt. I did some research and it seems that SW Dover White is pretty popular for cabinets/trim work. In your opinion does the trim need to match the white of the doors? My doors aren't white white but they aren't a really nice creamy white either... Also, thank you for the suggestion on the baseboard! I didn't even think to check a lumberyard!
