I have one lily that has same damage to the flower. Not sure if it is same cutworm that damaged leaves so badly.

Your flowers are so full and short. I wish mine weren't so leggy and fuller. Luckily the hummies don't mind. I have one that is suppose to have a double flower but so far no flower and I'm not sure where I planted it so I just keep looking for it.

Gosen Sunproof’s scapes are tall, but this is such an impressive Hosta it carries it off well.

What hosta is too the right of Gosen Sunproof? I agree the GS is very impressive. Probably the size of my whole front yard!

Kathy..Gosen Sunproof is gorgeous!..it has a wonderful cascading shape..is that dill?..asparagus?..or bronze fennel? growing behind it?..just guesses..I don't grow any of that on my shady lot..

Amsonia hubrichtii. I can’t remeber the common name right now.

I'm not familiar with amsonia so I looked it up..it said the common name was blue star..and that it flops in shade..not a good idea for me but it looks nice in your garden!..I tried a threadleaf coreopsis (similar texture) which declined then disappeared..

I've come to appreciate hosta flowers and enjoy watching the bees wiggle into the blossom and the hummingbirds dart in for a quick drink. The flowers are beautiful when viewed close up. Blue mouse ears in flower is perfection!

Amsonia does well in Dappled shade. I grow it and it does not flop.

That Gosan Sunproof is very impressive! That is when I start wishing for couple of more acres to my suburban plot...

lindalana..so amsonia tolerates your dappled shade?..good to know..for the most part when I try "part sun" plants they haven't done very well in my wooded lot..it's pretty shady..

The amsonia that I planted at my office flops but still looks beautifully golden in the fall.

All the bees, honey and bumble, are landing on the base of the hosta flowers in my yard and drilling into the flower for whatever they like there. No wiggling into the flower going on. Has anyone else seen this behavior? I wonder how things are getting pollinated, but there are seed pods on a lot of them so it’s happening somehow.

Not all of my blooms are open yet, but I notice bees in them. I have some pictures somewhere........what I see them on are the other wild flowers in my yard where I have sun, bee balm, coneflowers, day lilies...... this is a side track but do you know finches love the coneflower seeds. They eat them after the bloom has gone and they’re ugly. But that’s why I don’t dead head them.

The trick with growing some plants like Amsonia is to have lean soil and not water them much, treat it like a weed, plant in masse. I do not think it is that noticeable cept in the fall when it turns golden color. Same goes for Monarda, too much of good thing and you get floppy mess. Plants do get stretchy in too much shade of course.
