In my opinion the only reason to choose LVP over hardwood is if you can't afford hardwood. Maybe also if people have pets that urinate on the floors and they don't clean up right away.

I suggested Marmoleum which would have been absolutely period to your house. LVP would not work in your house.

I chose LVP because in my home, the kitchen gets the most foot traffic. I have had a problem in the past where the kitchen needed refinishing before the rest of the house. But, since the floors all flowed together seamlessly, we had to refinish the WHOLE 1st floor.

I simply did not want to do that again. Most people don't have 3 doors leading from their kitchen/mudroom to the outdoors, and a dog door for 2 rambunctious dogs, and a hot tub (with drippy footed people) on the patio just outside the kitchen. Money wasn't an issue, but durability and ease of replacing one damaged plank and being waterproof was too good to pass up.

Real wood is SO much prettier, but the headache was not worth it (every other room and hallway is hardwood, so I get my share of pretty flooring ... just not in a kitchen or bathroom).
