How do you use Houzz Ideabooks?

Hi Houzzers!
We all use Houzz so differently, especially when it comes to ideabooks! Some of us just like to read them, some of us stockpile tons of photos, and some of us share them with friends, family and designers.

How do you use Houzz ideabooks? Have you come up with a fun way to use this tool on Houzz?

I have a ton of Ideabooks: as I've become more aware of what Houzz has to offer, I've expanded and expanded, with more titles, and at some point I need to contract and weed a bit, probably.

We're fixing up an old house, so just about every Ideabook has something relevant in it, and I either bookmark the Ideabook, and/or save some of the images, add comments, or cut and paste the Ideabook commentary for future reference.

I also enjoy reading Ideabooks that seem to have no relevance for me, because there's always something interesting to learn, or some insightful commentary, and the occasional bunfight. Never dull!

My favourite Ideabook is one I called "Just because," which is simply beautiful shots of anything and everything - it's like my own little gallery.

I'm now at the stage of dealing with window people, etc, and it's very handy to be able to go to my Windows Ideabook, and point out what I do - and don't - want. It's all about me. ;)

Hi Vanessa,

I use them for future references as well and separated each ideabook by room category (living room, dining room, bathroom, bedroom, etc)....

Also have an accessories ideabook for products that I might purchase in the future!

Hi, my husband and I are about to buy a house. We set up a combined Ideabook, and we both peruse the photos on Houzz and add to the Ideabook with little comments about what we are thinking like, "Wall color, master bedroom". It is a great way to share our ideas, see where we overlap, and have a visual record of what we like. It's great!

I've used those belonging to dilemma posters and asked them to go back and make comments about the ones they favor. Helps me help them.

Right now I use it just for ideas for the future. I would like to see more articles about smaller spaces, I.e. apartments that are 800 sq ft or less.

Hi Vanessa!
My Ideabooks have been my sanity savers and constant companions since the historic house we bought was struck by lightning and burned just days after closing. Our planned "minor renovation" became a total gut/rebuild and Ideabooks let me organize every aspect. They also give me the opportunity to show my team what works and doesn't for our rebuilt home. I have one for every room besides lighting, paint colors random accessories and more. Surfing Houzz inspires me. I also bookmark Ideabooks for great tips later on - even when this massive project is done, Houzz will still be part of my world.

As an interior design professional, specializing in kitchens, I group some photos by style ( for instance, Shaker Doorstyle), some for features like ventilation design, and some for products like hardware or lighting to use as references when working with clients. i also have clients share their idea books with me, to get a vision of what they want to feel in a space or their specific product likes such as sinks or storage ideas or whatever may capture their attention from this vast library of photos and ideas.
