I don't grow any Buck roses myself (yet), but the only roses which are mostly cane hardy for me so far are wild roses, rugosas, and scotch/spinosissima roses. Everything else is crown hardy for me. But it may differ if you have a good microclimate. For example, my next door neighbour has 'Morden Sunrise' which is cane hardy on most years (not mine though, haha), and I've seen 'John Cabot' in Calgary in a sheltered location with zero die back, it was nearly 10 feet tall and stunning.

The Buck rose 'Prairie Princess' might be a bit tougher, it looks like it's rated to zone 3b on the HelpMeFind website. If I had the room I'd consider 'Quietness' and 'Distant Drums'.

Neither of the Morden Sunrises that i've had were cane hardy, and both only lasted a few years before not coming back. I've never grown a Buck rose.

Edited to add that i have grown a Buck rose after all - checked your link and saw that Hawkeye Belle was a Buck. I'd forgotten that. It was beautiful but only lasted a few years too.

Marcia, I hear Hawkeye Belle is a stunning rose! It looks like the Buck roses can really vary in hardiness too, it looks like he bred quite a few.

After comparing my yard with my neighbour’s I strongly believe good soil & good microclimate makes a huge difference when gardening in this region.

I know this is an older thread but I'm commenting in case someone else goes looking for info on the Bucks. I'm in zone 4 with minimal snow over the coldest spells and I don't winter protect.

Mountain Music has been tip hardy for me for three years and is always one of the first to leaf out and then bloom. It tends to put more effort into blooming than growing, so it's on the smaller side because I'm not good at pinching off buds, but always has lavish flushes of highly fragrant blooms.

Amiga Mia is cane hardy for me but slower to establish. This is its third year and it's only now really starting to take off. It didn't bloom quite as enthusiastically as MM, but still has nice blooms with great fragrance. It's quite a spicy scent and I do like this rose, in my opinion it's worth waiting for it to come into its own.

Folksinger is on its way this year so I'll update when it gets going :)
