Crabgrass growing after fertilizing

I fertilized two weeks ago. About a week ago crabgrass (at least what I think to be crabgrass) started growing in random spots in my yard.

Is this actually crabgrass? If so, what would you recommend to use to get rid of it?

I have fertilized twice this year. First time in April with Scott's Triple Action. Second time in early July with Scott's Turf Builder.

Here are some images. In the third image, you can see so brown patching in my yard. What would you recommend for this?

pfar54, I dropped the ball on this back when. Watering every day will encourage most weed seed to germinate. So does leaving bare spots or mowing too short. The best way to water is deeply and infrequently. Simply doing that will prevent many (MANY) weeds. That is until Mother Nature sends you a week of rainy weather. But MN gets it right most of the time with Her deep infrequent rain storms. For irrigation purposes, deep means 1 inch all at one time. Infrequent means no more than once per week (5-7 days) in the hottest heat of the Ohio summer. For cooler weather you can back off on the frequency to every 2 weeks, then 3 weeks, and when the temps fall below 70 degrees, water more like once per month until dormancy.

Your weeds are the right color to be crabgrass, but I'd have to see much closer to tell.

What is your watering schedule? How often and for how long do you water?

Can you take a picture of the crabgrass from about 6 inches away so we can see the leaf structure?

I live in NE Ohio. I'm honestly not sure what type of grass it is. My backyard has a sprinkler system that gets watered everyday. This is where the crabgrass (or whatever it is) is coming in, at least a lot more than the front. The front yard is where you see the browning patch and only gets watered when it rains.

@PruningHome I'm not 100% sure if the issue is solved. Right now my yard looks fantastic. I used Scott's fall fertilizer/weed preventative, had my lawn aerated and overseeded about a week after Labor Day. My issue always comes to be early/mid August when we are in our summer draught.

Very interesting, pfar54. Admirable enthusiasm too.

What is the name of the weed preventative ingredient in the Scott’s fall product you applied? And when did you apply it? I see overseeing took place one week post Labor Day.

Are you targeting winter annuals?

Does “My issue always comes...” mean you had crabgrass this year, too?
