I wish I had those gloriosas at the hospital garden. Their lawn crew sprayed Round-Up all over the place. Smuggler's Fire fits in nicely with the pinks and whites. Is the rose Larissa?

Lovely shots-lovely flowers! Gardens are colorfully beautiful. And you are not kidding about the size of SP are you? Not only is it tall but huge blooms too! Nordic Night showing off your purple! Keep persevering through Houzz issues, please!!

I love all the garden pix. Your flowers are all just beautiful. As for the daylilies, I think Scarlet Pimpernel is my favorite today. Smuggler's Fire looks like it provides a bright spot in the garden.

Gorgeous photos Celeste. SCARLET PIMPERNEL is so unusual with a deep color purple with the yellow/green eye/throat. Nice.

In the second group, that last border shot wows me. Beautiful shapes and colors masterfully put together! I love the bee balm. Is it Raspberry Wine? I'd love to have some of that.

mantis, the pink rose next to Smuggler's fire is actually 'Pomponella' but 'Larissa' is next to Pomponella (although not seen in the pic). Both are very good roses here and very prolific with their blooms. Very winter hardy and the interesting thing is that they aren't bothered much by the Japanese beetles, which is unusual for pink roses. They also don't succumb to blackspot as the season goes (I don't spray). Those are two that I will never be without, while so many were shovel pruned on account of the beetle infestation.

Debra, I don't know what formal name the bee balm is. It was a pass-a-long plant years ago. I have way too much of it and would love to give you some! It spreads like wildfire and I have to yank it out all the time since it's invading other plant's territory. I'm not sure how well it ships but if you want some I could try sending it. I could send a ton....lol. Another photo angle.....facing the road:

Debra....Well, it's definitely a tall variety. I went out to measure it and they are in the range of 34 to 38 inches tall. I snapped another picture to show it from a different angle. It would look splendid with the gloriosa daisies! I can send some plants in September.

Beautiful, Celeste. The lilies and Bee Balm are so nice. I have a couple lilies, a pale red and a bright orange. The orange is dying out like many others that I've had, no idea why. Only the pale red has thrived.

I wanted to bump this up.....for Debra. In addition to the above bee balm I also have a shorter purple variety if you would like some of that as well. I don't have as much of it but I can spare some. It is very short, never growing taller than a foot. I know you said you once had a purple one. I don't know the name....I did at one time but the only plants I keep track of the names are daylilies and roses. Too many plants to keep track of!

I'm going to pass on the purple bee balm, Celeste. As I recall, bees here always swarmed my purple one, which was called Blue Stockings and was about 40 inches tall. Some visited the raspberry one, but not nearly as many as worked the purple. A 34-38 inch plant is just what I'm seeking. Is that one raspberry in color, or a brighter red when you see it in the sun? Either way, I would love a piece of it.
