The range hood is a wood range hood from Conestoga Cabinetry contracted through Stanisci Design Range Hoods with a companion ventilator system inside to vent the hood outside. We added an appliques to the front, then had a local painter give it a faux finish to make it look more like aged copper. Let me know if there is anything else you would like to know about it.

Lisa, it's a bit hard to answer your question about if most painters will KNOW the process for painting the faux copper hood. First, you have define painters -- there are regular painters and then decorative finishers who are painters and plasterers that do work like the hood in the picture. There is not a single way to develop the finish for the copper hood. We all have distinct methods and styles to do projects. Not unlike finding a builder, designer, architect, etc., you have to review finishers and look at samples of their work to see what it a fit. There is a huge range of talent and expertise in the decorative finishing business, just like any other business. This usually aligns with the price you'd pay for the work.
