How big is this space? What you can fit in comfortably depends on the size of the room and the placement of doors and windows.

I assume you have a good sized walk-in closet with drawers: otherwise, you'll need a tallboy or dresser or something in addition to nightstands. And do you really need a coffee table?

Prolly, but let's confirm...Is this a guy-space bedroom? This matters, IMO.

How big is it, length by width?

IMO, since this is a bedroom, first shop for the bed. Make sure the bed will give you a good night's sleep and whatever else you have in mind. What size? Adjustable frame? Do you need storage underneath? How tall will the bed be?

Do you like to read in bed? That means a bed light needs to be good for reading, and it might need to be over your shoulder. You might want the kind of headboard that has a bookcase behind the head?

Do you have night time needs like a CPAP or 5 alarm clocks or a mass of devices needing recharging or ummm "toys"? The bedside tables and cubbies should be planned accordingly.

Then sketch space. Are there windows? Do you want your bed to face windows? How about a TV?

How big? Where are the closets? If none, how are planning to keep your clothes?

Since you're going to paint the walls, consider outlining possible furniture on the current walls. Then post photos!

How tall are the ceilings?

Do the accessories like art, curtains, and linens LAST.

Plants LAST LAST. Get real ones. Only if you need plants.

I wouldn’t use a coffee table for a TV. If you plan to watch it from bed it is better to have it more at eye level.

Mount the TV on the wall opposite the bed. You need the floor space for other stuff...

A coffee table is too low for a TV. even If your mattress is on the ground when you’re lying down the TV needs to be higher than you and usually by a lot. Really you need to have your bed in place so you can see where your optimal viewing level will be but generally I’m a bedroom higher up on a wall is the best place.

Is there a headboard? If not,add one. Overall, the combo of items you are planning to buy look flat,same repeating metal rectangle on both tables,lamp & desk is too match-y, it bugs me. So does the lack of textures. I quite like the nightstands but would find a more interesting lamp. Why are you set on the coffee table for the TV. Don't you need storage? Maybe consider a rug with a more distinct repeating geo pattern and better quality. The throw pillows add little to the mix. I do like the natural wood elements,the dark metal, and the green. Just think you need some star elements.

Art-wise. Consider fewer,bigger,better, and more personal pieces. A combo of slim black frames and natural wood frames is spot on,though.

Even with a bed at say 14" with mattress above floor, you still need the TV higher for ease of viewing. Needs to be measured when you have the bed in place and can actually test your habits and see what is best for your situation. But I would mount on wall probably and place a nice sleek console under it or mounted on wall under it.

Oooh, I like that Atlanta Beltline loft. It takes Gavin's preference for toned-down solids to a whole new level of spunk. That rug is spectacular. This look can be done on a low budget, too, IMO, from Ikea or somewhere.

Since your walls will be white, you'd have to have a different way to create the effect of that rich grey wall (someone else will be better at advising on this), but wow.

I think they’re both great, but I like the second lamp. I agree a break from the harsh lines is nice, but I still like it minimal :) As for the throw, I think that could be a great place for color!

If the lamp is for the bed on a night table, it needs to be tall enough to shine line on whatever you're reading in bed. I suspect that both of those ^ are too short for that purpose. Make sure that the top of the nightstands is level with the top of the mattress, and then the bottom of the lampshade should be level with your chin when you're sitting in bed reading.

I'd pick a taller version of the first one.

Something like these, from CB2 and All Modern

, would add some much needed texture and subtle pattern, assuming the height works out.

Beckysharp is right on the height of the lamps. I would hold off on those till you get your bed and nightstands set up, then measure to see what height you need. You might even want to consider something adjustable.

Gavin, i admire your willingness to learn. How much is that table (let us try and find a cheaper equally stylish option... so need to know size of your TV) and what size rug do you need? Rugs are relatively inexpensive in these day of ebay and etsy and all the online sellers. Glad to see this thread is now getting focused on the size/scale of items. Makes all the difference both in the look and the comfort in any space. Hurray for Becky for getting it there!

I like that lamp Grover suggested for your desk. It's minimally invasive leaving a lot of surface area work space.

If you order the lower tv stand and it turns out to be too low can you use it in the living room? That is such a good price. And if you want to blend in the different wood tones maybe a different rug would help? This one is also from HD. I wouldn’t go with gray curtains with this one but maybe a taupe.
