the term sport ... would imply ... that there was a parent plant ... that is sporting forward.. or reverting back ... and we just dont know anything about all that .. since you just got the property ...

at best.. i would call it a streaker ... but even that would be a loose term ...

im not up to speed on all the out of the ordinary diseases ... but i wouldnt call this hvx ... but im wondering about the weird puckering.. and whatever disease might cause that ... maybe someone else can chime in with that ...

what interests me most is how the white goes all the way down the petiole ... the leaf stalk ...

it might vaguely remind me of something out of striptease ... there are only about 100 variations on that theme ... lol ...

at best.. i would just leave it alone ... maybe push a stake/marker near it.. so you can find it .. remember.... to look next year ... and keep us posted ...

Thanks, Ken! I was in the old GardenWeb hosta forum years ago and just discovered that it moved over to Houzz. We have a terrible deer problem, so I'm quite thrilled that these few plants managed to avoid getting chewed. I have to move this plant and I'll be sure to put it in a protected space to see what happens next year. That stripe down the petiole was curious to me, too -- I wonder what would happen if I tried to isolate those eyes and grow it out separately.

...and that horsetail is EVERYWHERE! Ugh.

It's possible the hosta used to be something vareigated, like Coggleywood., that turned green.

I have a Sea Lightning that turned. I put the green part where the deer eat it before they start on the daylilies. If they do, it's time to spray Liquid Fence on everything. Anyhow, it still puts out the ocassional streaked leaf.

Your suggestion of Cogleywood pointed me in a good direction, and now I'm wondering if it's similar to Alley Oop, or maybe a relative of Allegan Fog (we're close to the nursery that created Allegan Fog).
