Beautiful!!! I don't have it so I am just offering guesses. Is it under lights? Usually "curl down" is too much light. Is this the normal variegation? Cooler weather promotes variegation. Also,,,,it is summer now and I have found that my violets are drinking a little more. (I guess you could say they "get drunk" !) Or is it evaporating? I am just guessing. Rosie

I grow only in natural light, and I've moved it away from the area that gets the strongest afternoon light. It has the same variegation it had when It first arrived in April. Here is a photo from shortly after I first got it from Lyndon Lyon. (The plant on the left is Beach Party, which I received from Lyndon Lyon in the same order.

My AVs are not happy -neither am I. my AC is on its last leg... when it is 100F outside it is in 80 inside... and we are wilting... But I insist in working it to the last breath.

If it's a dropper for you (it usually isn't) then your humidity is also too low.

Judy is from NJ, they should have a decent humidity. When it is hot and too humid... it is also counterproductive... We are over the peak of the heat - it is getting nicer! Woo-Hoo!

Right, Irina. Jersey girl I am, and the humidity in my plant room is around 50%, so that's not the problem. But it has been less gruesomely hot and the newer flowers opening on LE-Carousel seem to be doing better so I guess it's probably more heat related than anything else.

I think 50% is as much as you want to go.... specially in a heat.. more - and you will start developing all kinds of nasty mold on the walls. Plus root rot will be taking AVs out.

On the other side - you can grow some exotic terrarium Gesneriads from Guyana Shield... if you watched the movie 'Papillion' about the guy who tried to escape French Guyana penal camp... swamp and heat...

I just want to report that now that the weather has cooled off a bit, my LE-Carousel is looking much better -more blooms and not curling back at all. So I guess it was definitely the heat she didn't like - even though my house is well air-conditioned! Good to know.
