Range backguard help, please!

Need advice on what to do about a backguard. We replaced a 10 yr Jennair range with a Maytag. The old range had a 21” backguard that I really liked, especially because of the warming shelf at the top. I wasn‘t home for the installation but my husband said the old backguard is not compatible with the new range. We did not tile behind the old backguard, nor did we finish the edges of the tile against the backguard.

Should I order the 6” Maytag backguard and fill in tile above it? Anyone know if it is possible to wall mount or modify the old backguard? Or just tile or find some universal wall mount backguard?
