A new bloomer and more

i had a few first time Bloomers the past few days. Red Eyed Fantasy was added this spring, didn’t expect any blooms, had a couple.

Woman at the Well had a first bloom today. It was added this spring and has a couple buds.

Siloam Double Delight had first bloom yesterday. It has a lot of scapes but they are all short. Most of the blooms will be in the foliage, this has never happened in the ten years or more it’s been growing here.

Pizza Crust started blooming yesterday, two blooms today. I tried to get a picture of the clump, it’s got a ton of buds.

I had a huge clump of Buttered Popcorn, it was taking over the bed. Two years ago I dug it, gave some away and disposed of most of it. I kept two fans and planted them in a spot under my huge blue spruce because I just wanted something green there. The crazy plant is blooming in dry 95% shade.

Almost forgot Reindeer Antlers, had first blooms this week. It’s in the corner of the yard with blooms facing the fence. It was added this spring so blooms were another surprise. It’s a gorgeous red flower.

Butter Popcorn is a great grower. Reindeer Antlers is one I am hoping to add. I like the fact that it is a late tetraploid red. Yours looks really pretty.

Reindeer Antlers is a beautiful shade of red! You gotta love a daylily that will bloom in the shade. Why did you want to get rid of most of it? It's such a trooper. Mine finally died out in the shade. I always liked it because it rebloomed in October for me.

BP wasn’t originally growing in the shade, I had no idea it could tolerate the shade. Live and learn, lol! At the time most of my daylilies were some form of yellow, I just needed some contrast. Now I’m really glad I kept some. I should have eliminated most of the Stella’s I had instead.

Red Eyed Fantasy is pretty. I also added Reindeer Antlers last year. I love the deep rich color it has.

Ooh Reindeer Antlers is indeed gorgeous! And late! I also like Red Eyed Fantasy. How nice that Buttered Popcorn blooms in the shade.

Reindeer Antlers is appealing, but I was sad to hear that it is a late. The last three days here illustrate why lates don't appeal to me. The nights were cold, followed by bright sunny days. Lousy flower opening all three days. In addition, foliage is getting ratty, and flowers are smaller because of dryness (typical near August). To be sure, earlies have their problems too, but not this year.
