After hard winters, some of my evergreens take a year off. Then are some that scape four to six weeks later than they should.

I had a few not to bloom this year. I have two clumps of Purple Starfish, one of which is in partial shade-bloomed-the other in prime real estate-no blooms and no scapes but continues to pump out fans. A few others that bloomed well last year-no scapes this year.

Hopefully only this season off and bloom next year! I only have a few (4) not blooming but all are too small after the winter.

I have certain ones that take the year off once in a while, fortunately only a few. Some have good years/bad years, and others are always good no matter what. Most of the ones that have mostly bad years are gone.

That happens to all of us on occasion. At least it has happened to me. I usually threaten the plant with the compost pile if it happens again and it rearely does.
