Asko Autodose Washer W6124XW

Hello All

Been a while since I posted here , life in the way.

The new W6124XW is finally here. Have not had a chance to explore in detail but will try to make a video. I could not find anything online regarding this washer and I mean nothing and it is a North America only model (Italy has a similar washer with AD but not the same) So if you guys and gals have questions I will try my best to answer them

In Consumer Reports' predicted reliability rankings, Asko compact washers are dead last at "Poor".

I hope you like your new Asko Vicky. Asko is actually my dream washer, so I'm a little jealous. I know I'm in the minority, but the "no boot" is highly desirable to me and the 5 extra rinses if needed is as well. I have difficult water regarding rinsing, so these features appeal to me. I've not been happy to read how Asko reliability has seemed to turn the wrong way in recent years, so I hope you have a completely positive experience! I don't have any questions for you, but I did want to offer my congratulations. Happy washing. :)

Great photo, I like the minimalist design Asko chose for the interface. Also would love to know if the "no boot" design works well. Was installation through Sub-Zero now? Congrats and enjoy!!

Installation has to be done by a factory certified Sub-Zero installer to maintain warranty. What do you guys mean by no boot? The door seal?. This is the first Asko washer in years that has an on-board heater plus a hot water inlet together for what is called "intense wash"

    Congrats @vicky.!!

How does the clothes come out? Is it using enough water ? I heard this washer no longer has boil wash- no more 203F.

And how this compare to the previous asko washer you bought @vicki?

"No boot"; no rubber flange in-between the door and drum. The thing that gets moldy for some washers. That piece is not on Asko, or at least on past models, there was no boot. I've not seen the inside of this new one you have.

Hi Vicky, I am considering the model you've posted here--Asko W6124XW--and would be pleased to know what your experience has been with the machine. I am replacing a 20+ year old Asko washer that I have loved, so any input you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Also, you mention in your post that you may be posting a video. If you've done so, please direct me to it. Kind regards.

i'll be glad to answer any specific questions you have

Thank you, Vicky. Have you had a good experience with your Asko W6124XW? Are you happy with the quality, build, features, and wash results? Any need for service or repairs and, if so, what were the issues? And, how are you liking the automatic detergent dosing feature? Lastly, do you have a favorite high-efficiency detergent? I was thinking about trying the Miele HE detergents. My local salesperson says they are amazing, but I've not yet had an opportunity to try them. Oh, have you (or will you) be posting a video as mentioned in your original post? I would love to watch it. Thanks!

    Asko W6124XW: $2,459!!!

HU-669026478 no issues so far, pretty smooth sailing; i use Persil liquid for auto-dose and it works great. What specifically would you like a video off?

Good to know. Your original post references a possible video, so if you have time to post something that covers a basic overview of the machine and the general functionality, including the various cycles and options, and noise level while operating, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Asko W4114 installed mid-June. No problems after 3+ months of use. Using Tide detergent powder, 1 tablespoon each wash. Purchased during 5-year warranty period (now gone). Regular warranty now is 2 years + 1 year if installed by authorized installer. (Something Miele does not have in my area.) Have used some special settings (especially "Shirts") but often just use "Quick." Have run "Clean" cycle at end of July, August, September and will continue as Asko advises "at least monthly" for drum cleaning. We are just 2 people so monthly seems fine.

Hi Vicky! I am considering the W6124XW mainly because of the Night Mode option. Do you think there is much benefit to having this option? Is there a noticeable difference in noise or vibration?

We are putting our laundry upstairs for the first time — previously it has always been i the basement. I want it to be as quiet as possible!

Also, is it possible to turn off the auto dose feature? I think I would like to have the option to not use it on some loads....

Many thanks for offering to share your insight here!

Hi. Not much benefit noise wise at all, yes you can turn off auto

Night Modes usually lower or eliminate the spin cycle(s) altogether. That can be done on almost washer.

Only benefit would come from not using the spin cycle... the loudest part of a wash cycle by far. The tumbling is pretty quiet. Doubt the tumbling would keep anyone awake (or wake them.) The spin noise on the other hand might well be a challenge for light sleepers if it was in a close room.

A reliability update for anyone interested on the Asko W4114 installed last June... everything has been fine since then.

In regards to what wdccruise said about Consumer Report's reliability ratings, I personally don’t trust anything Consumer Reports says and over the years come to laugh at anyone I see walking around quoting what their magazine’s say. They seem to favor some brands over others. Example: They rate LG Refrigeration as being the greatest thing for humanity, yet there are multiple simultaneous class-action lawsuits against LG for their failing Inverter Linear Compressors due to a known design flaw they did nothing about, instead fighting consumers needing repair. LG states they have a 10 year warranty on their compressor which is true, but it’s a parts-only warranty on a sealed system part. They'll send you a compressor, but you arent putting it in.

I tell people that if they want to know the “actual” consumer’s reports, simply take the model number of anything you’re buying, put it into google, and see what actual owners have to say both past and current. I own the Asko set in question, and they have been problem-free for the last year and a half. In fact, this is the second Asko set I’ve owned. The first Asko was purchased in 2005 and is STILL RUNNING in the condo rental I have. The only service performed thermistor for the dryer went out twice, and the dryer lint trap in the door broke. I’ve owned 2 different Asko dishwashers, both have been great.

A good tool for valuable and accurate information is the Yale Appliance website. They have a blog that talks about reliability by brand, the data they provide is reliable because they service the products that they sell. Of the top-5 brands for reliability in compact laundry, ASKO is number 4. LG, Whirlpool, Electrolux, Fisher and Paykel, and Blomberg all offer compact laundry in the USA too, but they didn’t make the list.

“Service Call” doesn’t always mean "repair" either. Certain brands such as Miele and Asko that are higher-end, higher-priced "premium" brands are targeted to, and tend to attract a more critical “picky” customer that has higher demands and expectations, and will at times initiate a service call when they hear a noise they are not use to, or “think” the machine is not operating correctly because it’s different than what they had before. The fact a call was made counts against it. The customer that buys the lower-priced Beko or Samsung laundry may be satisfied with what they just had delivered as long as it’s working, period. Just like with cars, the high-end customer is more critical and particular when purchasing and owning a Lexus ES300 versus the customer that bought the Toyota Camry V6, even though both cars are effectively the same car mechanically. One customer is more critical than another. Anyways, take from that what you will. If anyone has questions about these machines, feel free to ask, I own them.
