Hello!

I have a peony that's hanging out in a pot right now. It's going to need to be planted, and I'm trying to figure out the best place to plant it.

Do they prefer acid or alkaline soil?

We have a potential spot for it, but there's a cedar tree right near by, so it tends to have acidic soil (my blueberries love it).

Also, how much do deer like them? They're stupid deer, so they might eat anything (boo to it eating most of the flowers off of the daylilies in the main garden the other day), but I guess I'm wondering if they're a delicacy or just something that might get munched.

Anything else I should know about best conditions?

We've had some in the past that kind-of floundered/don't bloom anymore, so I'm trying to get it right this time.
