Craftsman lawn tractor

I have a craftsman LT 2000 lawn tractor That keeps stalling. It starts right up but only runs for about 30 sec And begins to stall but if I turn the key to the off position it continues to run but again for about 30 sec and begins to stall but again if I turn the key to now to the on position it continues to run And this will keep going until I no longer continue to turn the key at which time it will stall.

I check to see if the air filter needs to be replaced.

You will have to check the fuel system if the air filter is clean . The fuel pump solenoid , fuel pump , fuel filter then the carb for dirt etc . If all good there your elect system coil could be breaking down . The lawn tractor forum is a site you may wish to visit in the future , for such questions !

Sounds to me like an electrical issue as it runs for 30 seconds for each key movement. Check the connections and wires from the key to the coil, as well as the coil. It also shouldn't run while in the Off position, leads me to believe there's a short somewhere.

Alternatively, IF they key position does something with fuel injection to dump more fuel, that may play a role into the fuel system potentially being the culprit.
