Think of simplicity when you think farmhouse design. The style of the surround is not FH, so you don't have to go rustic with your classic FP. Groups of 3-5 related items that share a color or theme work best. Or you can just flank the window mirror with a pair of big candlesticks.

skell311, they are 12 square slate tiles that we cut in half then quarters so we could use them in a herringbone pattern. Hope that helps.
