I planted these three years ago as actively growing plants. Last spring was the first time they bloomed. We had five lovely stalks of flowers. However, this year only three came up. When I lifted them to move them, the bulbs were soft. Is this normal for this time of year? When I replant, should I amend the soil to make it more draining? Our soil is a bit clay-ey but I don't have trouble with other plants that like a well-drained soil. I'd appreciate any advice!
