You’ve got Cleistocactus winteri aka golden rat tail cactus. Monkey tail/Cleistocactus winteri subs. colademononis is a subspecies of your cactus. Both are super easy to propagate and sounds like you already know what to do;). You can slice anywhere on the cactus with a clean sharp knife. Let those cuts callus and away from moisture. Any cutting without roots no water or harsh sun till those roots form. Which can take a month+.

Keep in mind wherever you cut that area will always look like you’ve cut it. It will grow pups around the cut, kinda like arms.

Depending on what you want to do you can turn your cactus into a few four inch cuttings and root those. I wouldn’t cut any pieces smaller than four inches because if too small they may just shrivel up on you. I have a monkey tail cutting that tbh I don’t think is even four inches, but has rooted, and has a pup.

My monkey tail is in bloom now. You can see the difference in color between your cactus and mine. The flower is more reddish orange on monkey tail.

Update: upon further inspection I might have a Golden Rats tail cactus, not the monkey tail. Also have been informed that cutting, calloussing and planting should work fine. Interesting to note that where I chop double tails will grow...1 becomes 2, 2 becomes 4 etc...can be weighty if the cutting is taken at the end of a long stem, I assume!

can someone tell me where to cut my monkey tail? Is it toward the tip or close to the roots. if i cit my long stem can i devide it by 3
