Your winner is gorgeous! Loving the clumps, especially August Frost!

And this year I am ready, I thought it's not worth it to count buds since so many are not doing well this year but I found some with a decent bud count, yay. Just need to prepare pics and I will post mine.

This was easy for me, not too many with big bud counts. The winner here is Purple Paw Print with 28-38 buds per scape. It’s been blooming for over a month and still has buds to go. Second place is Itza Pink Teddy with 21-24 buds, it’s blooming now on three rebloom scapes. Pizza Crust is a contender, too many blooms now to try and count.

Debra, those are all great ones for high bud counts. I’m glad to see a high bud count on a white, I love August Frost, every garden needs some no eye daylilies in my opinion, they highlight and contrast with the fancies, and a great bud count to boot!

Not time to tell here yet we are only at mid season. It will be quite a while yet before I can share that info .

Sherry - Purple Pawprint really outdid itself! I looked that one up, and it's only registered as having 18 buds. Your Itza Pink Teddy performed better than its registration too. I love th clump shot of that one! All that rain you got early on boosted those bud counts in a positive way. Your photos of Pizza Crust looked well-budded, so I bet it's right up there with those other two.

Lavender Stardust also had a good year here, after a lousy year last year. El Desperado was also much better than last year. Just from memory: Men's Wear, Shout From the Mountaintops, Abraham Lincoln, Cory Tipple, Black Falcon Ritual, Thelma Douglas. Also, Memorial to Steve.

Mantis - How long have you had Thelma Douglas? This is the first season I recall seeing your photos of it.

It was in the garden last year too. Surprised me this year with its perfection.

Brad, those VTs are really well budded. North Wind Dancer is beautiful and what a good performer. Like your Spiritual Corridor some of my daylilies look like they have a lot of flowers, but it was because of the number of scapes actually. But even with 10-12 bud counts if you have like 15 scapes there will be a lot of blooms I guess.

Brad - I'm impressed with the high bud counts on so many of the VT daylilies!

Nat - Isn't it wonderful when a rebloom scape has so many buds?!

Oh yeah, I am very happy with Arctic Lace, one of our favorites.

Nat, I’m really liking Artic Lace, love the green throat and edge.

My Winner is Gauchito Gil, from Curt Hanson, with 34 buds on its best scape. It is a small flower with a striking red-orange color.

Dick - That is a nice one! I looked it up, and it appears to be a small flower on a very tall scape. Thanks for sharing your best budded!

I don't count buds (except on seedlings), so I don't have any hard facts to contribute, just a hunch. If I counted buds, I bet Priscilla's Dream would be in the top. It must be a bud builder because it has been in flower continuously since it started. It's such a graceful little thing too.

Nancy, when I had Priscilla's Dream it usually had a huge number of buds for me. Don't recall numbers.

I was considering "Artificial Evolution" with up to 150 (!!) buds. It is a Gossard (from 2013). Tall scapes, dark 8" flowers.

Plasko - Is that 150 on just one scape? If so, amazing! I looked up the registration, and the bud count is only listed as 15.

Mantis, does Blue Pink Beauty still give you an amazing amount of blooms?

Plasko - Thanks for the link. I can't even imagine what 150 buds would look like on one scape. I notice he does recommend the plant only for hybridizing. I do think the scape would have trouble staying upright. Do you have this one?

No. I did not get it because we sometimes get strong winds here, so the top-heavy scapes would certainly be flattened. Unfortunately. I would love to see all those blooming, though! What great value for money.
