Landscape Design Shrubs Garden

staghorn sumac doesn't bloom

In 2016 I dug up a staghorn sumac and planted it in my yard. I put it in the median strip to see if that would contain the suckering. So far it has, and the plant is super healthy. It's about 6' tall. Have gotten the gorgeous rainbow fall color.

However, it has not bloomed for me. I don't know if it's a male or a female but both of them bloom. Any thoughts? Could the reason it's not blooming because of being planted in the hell strip?

Not old enough yet, the plant gets a lot bigger than this.

i have a sneaking suspicion ... that it was a large transplant ... and the reason that it hasnt started colonizing yet.. is that it has not replaced the lost root mass ... and it may not flower until it does ...

i also doubt the cement has anything to do with it.. other than watering issues ... hot dry ground ...

and i finally suspect ... that once it gets going.. you will start finding escapees in the ground outside the surrounding cement ... and maybe even across the street ... lol ...
