I don't think it is too big, definitely a statement piece. I think the only thing that would bother me is that the light does not appear to be centered in the room and I would want the table centered under the light and the rug centered under the table. The bigger the fixture I think the more it will highlight if off center. But if that doesn't bug you then I think it is a great choice! Very cool fixture :) Also sorry if it is just the photo throwing a weird angle and the light IS centered.

In contrast, I'd push the light toward the window, so you can center table and rug under it while leaving a better aisle on the other side. Intentionally off-center is different from a near miss.

Just make sure the bottom of the fixture is at least 30" above the table and that should work.

I agree. The scale is good. I think you need something else that is black in the space. It will help to tie everything together. I would replace your art (its too small and hung too hight) with a large piece that has black in it. It won't be too expensive if you look for a large mass produced canvas verses a framed piece. One more thing to make the whole project more work. I would change the rug in the dinning room to one that is neutral that matches the large rug in your living room. Blue or grey, solid or remove completely and hang curtains in that colour. Reducing the number of patterns and colours in the place allows the pieces to be seen without competing with a lot of visual information.

You are 90% there just find the colour you want to coordinate from your living room rug and pull it into the dining room.

Thank you all! I am planning to get rid of the art work and I’m looking for a mirror or two to hang on that wall to help bring more light in. I’m thinking something with a thin black frame.. and simple. Also Rebekah you are totally right about the light being off centered. It drives me crazy. We’re bringing in an electrician to get the light centered properly.
