Ah! Gorgeous! Thank you for posting! How often does PN bloom for you? My mother had one and only got a flower once in a great while. So... I was always hesitant to buy one for myself.

I learned from a local friend, years ago, that in our climate, the way to get Paul Neyron to rebloom is to more than dead-head it -- it really likes a fairly hard pruning after bloom. Then it will bloom on the next flush. So you get several flushes of bloom per season.

My roses are all on the smaller side, perhaps because I have no hybrid perpetuals and almost no hybrid teas. My largest rose bloom is Evelyn which at its largest might have been 4 1/2 inches.

I don't know, as it's not a quality I aim for. However, 'Cl. Etoile de Hollande' has a very large, dark, and fragrant bloom, though only semi-double; and 'Etoile de Lyon' is large and very double. Both of these are beautiful roses on good tough plants, though 'Cl. Etoile de Hollande' is basically once-blooming.

The climbing rose Mme Gregoire Staechelin (Spanish Beauty) has very large flowers. And some of the old hybrid teas, such as Just Joey are also very large.

Not "cabbagy" and I no longer have photos of it, but Great Century, Grand Siecle, has one of the largest flowers in "rosedom". It often produces 8" flowers. Not a ton of them, because it requires time and many resources to produce something that large, but they are about the largest rose bloom.

Lesli, I was doing an online search for large roses and ran across your post from last year. In case you are still considering Paul Neyron. I have grown PN for years and he blooms in flushes all year, I have never had him be stingy with giving flowers. I agree best to cut back canes after each flush rather than just deadhead. It also helps to keep him in bonds and a nice shape. I suggest putting him on an a tall support so you can wrap his long arms around and allow more lateral breaks otherwise you only have blooms at top of tall canes. Some suggest pegging but that takes up too much garden space for me. He is a great, easy care, large and constant blooming rose for me in Dallas. I do spray but he doesn't ask for it.

In spring with Peace.... not this good in Aug but nothing is in our Texas heat, including me. :-)

Peter Schneider of Freedom Gardens listed "Heaven on Earth" as having 7 inch blooms in "Right Rose, Right Place". I have no idea if that's typical but figured I'd mention it!

I don't really know the variety of this Tea Rose, however it blooms better at around 10°C, sunny days. @slumgullion in southern OR
