Yes, we do plan on adding all of those things, but were considering doing the fireplace first. Thank you for your feedback.

I think you have room for a sleek modern fireplace, but it doesn't fit particularly well with the style of the home. And in order to use it in Arizona, you'll have to wait for the two days in February that are cold enough, or run the air conditioner at the same time. ;-)

1. Wall mounted electric fireplaces need only 4 to 5 inches extension from a wall, not enough to block the walkway.

2. Sorry, Groveraxle, but you don't have to use the heater option every time you use the fireplace. The flame and background light color options offer multiple combinations for ambience without heat.

I think it’s a wonderful idea. Just my opinion. I realize you would have to go with electric, but there are so many models available I’m sure you could find one to suit your decor. We have a gas fireplace in our master bedroom and we love it.

Perhaps a small electric "wood stove" in the corner where that black dresser is.

That sounds pretty cool!

Electric fireplaces require very little depth, so the ones that are saying the room is too small, well . . . they have good intentions.

Just to get more noses turned up, I'm going to suggest you put a large piece of art or a *gasp!* TV up above it.

I'd suggest a very small bump out to make it look more permanent and less "added as and afterthought".

Electric fireplaces are practical for bedrooms (heat is optional), but there are some thin gas ones that would work, too.
