North Facing Room - Paint Help

We hope to update and brighten our walls from SW Kilm Beige. The challenge-it's a North facing room and prone to looking gloomy. Also trying to work with our Navy/griege rug (may have not been the best color choice, but kids & pets!) Our kitchen cabinets are Intellectual Gray on bottom and Alabaster on top. SW is the closest paint store. I'm considering: a lighter shade on the walls than the cabinets (worldly gray or agreeable gray) and put up light-med blue curtains, that would update the beige-iness but I'm not sure that would help brighten the room. Can you recommend a cream or bone that doesn't go too yellow in a dim room? Any ideas for other wall colors? Someone suggested dusty blue with gray in it. It would have to have enough blue to avoid too much gray, but too much blue.. would overwhelm the space. I'd love to know any other opinions or ideas.

I have SW sea salt in my north facing kitchen. It’s a lovely greyish/green , not dark at all. If you want a light neutral something like SW shoji white (shown in photo below) could work.

I’m not a pro but I know light from North is a cooler light, so it shouldn’t make walls appear yellower, that would be your lighting. It looks like you have two ceiling fans and one small ceiling light? Maybe consider updating lighting as part of your update. Also northern light being cool, I don’t think I would pick a cool wall colour.

I'm not good with color but am wondering why the FP isn't being used in the room layout?

KilimBeige is one of my favorite colors so I guess I am not a good one to ask! I am not sure how any gray can brighten up a room. I would just go a shade or two lighter than the kilim beige. Once everything becomes gray you severely limit your choices. You have lovely things to work with.

What are the colors you are trying on the wall?

Your sofa/chairs have a white/creamy look, am I seeing that correctly?

I put BM Edgecomb Gray in my north facing bedroom. Furniture color close to your floors, creamy white bedding, creamy taupe drapes. During the day the paint is brightening, at night with lights on it does take on a creamy/beige hint. And its gives warmth that you never get from cooler grays. Very nice greige.

Sorry I cannot give you a SW color match for it. I do know the BM Edgecomb Gray is LRV 63. Light reflecting colors above 50 are better at reflecting natural light during the day or artificial lights at night. I hope that helps.

A dim room needs more lamps. The ceiling fixture doesn't provide enough. You probably need at least three that provide general light--I see only one. The smaller desk lamp doesn't provide light for the room. You also need reading lamps by the big chair and at the other end of the sofa.

As to color, the one wall seems to have a pale green, that looks good to me.
