kitchen layout help please!

Hello,
-We are a family of 4.
-Cook about 3-4 times/week.
-Rarely use the big oven. Usually use small toaster oven.
-use microwave everyday
-We use the small bay window dining room everyday because it s nice and bright with natural light and it s looking out to a nice deck and backyard. When we have party/gathering, everyone also like to gather in the small bay window area. There is also a TV in this room.
-I like window behind cooktop and sink idea.
-The current formal dining room and living room are rarely used. They both kind of dark, not enough natural light even though there is a big window in each room.
-Our concern is the new kitchen layout is too open and too close to front entry. The mess can be seen easily. But we need a bigger open area for gathering...
-We need more storage
-we already look into beam and structures. All walls can be removed with some support beams.
-Appreciate any suggestion!

What was in this room initially? It look like a pretty big room? Will you be replacing the existing kitchen?

It is the formal unused dining room. Yes, I will be replacing the existing kitchen. Here are the rest of pics of existing kitchen. Thx

You can post more photos in the comments.

Do you really need three different places to sit, so close to each other, for four people?

Is the TV going to stay by the bay window dining area? Is there another TV in the living room?

I'm sorry but your new idea is just dysfunctional for cooking.

Please post the floor plan showing all the rooms that relate to the ones you have now. Meaning what attaches to the living room? The formal dining room? Etc?

What are you willing to move?

Can you remove the brick fireplace? Is it used?

What are your actual needs in the kitchen and for living spaces?

I see you want a galley kitchen connecting to the family closing off the original but will you be implementing a powder room or a bath?

Our concern is the new kitchen layout is too open and too close to front entry. The mess can be seen easily. But we need a bigger open area for gathering...

I would start by giving some thought to creating/carving out an entrance area or foyer.

How often do you entertain? How many people do you entertain? And exactly how do you entertain?

When you say you need more storage, what do you need to store?

-Currently there is no tv is living room.
-The brick fireplace is not used. But I kind of like it. The only character of the house. But I’m willing to remove it for a good floor plan.
-I like a spacious dining and gathering area. Usually gatherings are buffet/potluck type and about 20+ people. We have about 8-10 gatherings/ year.
-A foyer would be fine too.
-We currently have 4 bathrooms. So we don’t need another powder room.
The column will be next to fireplace wall.
I apologize if my English doesn’t sound right. Thank you for your help!

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>Mama goose, I like your plan very much, especially the pantry at the fireplace. It helps with the bad Fengsui, the front door looks straight through the back door.

We need a to-scale drawing of the kitchen, dining room and the adjacent rooms. Identify the appliances. Show the measurements for traffic areas
    in the kitchen.
You need to have at least 42” between cabinetry and any kitchen appliance and about the same distance between cabinetry runs.
