I wish I knew about samplize before. I want an airy space. I'm not a fan of tans and really would rather not go white either but open to the idea. I've been in search of light grays with minimal undertones and repose to this point has been the winner. I'm sure there are other grays the fit the bill a little better

The grays are very tricky as you have no doubt discovered. Even if you are sure of Repose Gray, I would still get a couple of those samples from samplize.com because it really helps give you a better perspective on what the color in large amounts will do in your room. You might want to consider doing the fireplace wall in a white and the side walls in the gray. I really like the way the white pops in your space. You don't have to go all gray. Personally, that trend has seen its day and I wouldn't want you to be way past the best look in your room.

Looking at the various paint samples, I was concerned that you were looking at grays that don't offer enough contrast with your gray sofas. I don't know whether Repose Gray falls into that category. I did think of Pale Oak, which Flo already mentioned. It is, as its name says, pale, and would provide a nice contrast the the sofas if the color works.

i would not go with a grey on the walls too. I would leave it white since it would be too dark /gloomy for me.

You still have time to order the samples. Good art looks great on very light walls or very dark. In between makes them get lost. I know as I'm an artist and have been to many many museums and showings. Trust these designers.

Nice space. Like all the natural light. As you choose window dressing, consider an option that will enable you to let in as much light as possible.

For the curtains, consider using double rods -- the flat adjustable ones that are totally hidden in rod pockets -- wide enough to extend six inches on both sides of your pairs of windows (with middle supports) so you can leave your decorative drape panels open fully - have them cover only the window frame (very little glass) and the wall beside the window (with a narrow panel where the pair of windows meet if you prefer).

While you look for drape panels you really like, you can go ahead and get white sheers for the inner rod (to be hung on the outer rod until you choose your drapes).

With the way your blinds are installed, you can probably leave them in place but pulled all the way up during the day to let in plenty of natural light (or down but open to limit glare) but still available to be pulled down at night (or cloudy -- whenever the lights are on) for privacy as needed.

Elder white is a Great Wall color..I have used it several times..very neutral...

I would add sheer gray or white panels on a ceiling track super clean style...would be great in your space.

You could keep it monochromatic with black and white art....

Will the black and white art go with the blue chairs?

Of course.....black and white can be used in any space....the blue chairs stand alone...are so beautiful...you can add blue into any adjoining space maybe a accent of navy blue into the kitchen....maybe just a navy blue lumbar on the sofa...simple classic and clean style.

FWIW, black, white, gray, everything square and hard, stone and gold-tone metal: it's not a warm and welcoming space. Probably why I'm not a big fan of ultra-contemporary styling.

I think adding gold metals brings warmth to the space...just looking at your Idea book it looks like you do like monochromatic spaces...adding texture can help with the overall feel of the room...texture in pillows a textured throw.....textured rug..all these elements help the space feel calm a welcoming.

In your case, since paint color in your room is pretty critical, I suggest you select that first and then do the window treatments in the same color or close. Otherwise, light gray draperies could look dirty/dingy next to some wall colors. Definitely would do ceiling mount and the wave drapery would be awesome in your room.

Please don't choose your paint color before you flooring is down. Your wood is going to change the way the paint looks in the room ESPECIALLY if it is gray.

DIS - their flooring is in and it is pretty creamy at least in the photos. Going to be a bit tricky selecting fabric for window treatments unless there is some white in the space and you can do a nice pure white. I would never do gray drapery in this room. Just think they look dirty.

Are you putting in the engineered wood floor you linked above? If so, I would wait on finalizing paint.

Flo, as far as I know, the flooring is NOT in. If you are looking at my renderings, that's flooring I installed. Good to know I got you fooled though. ;-)

I didn’t see that until now. I apologize DIS et al. I looked it up and it is “not in stock” at a few sources. But it would be a big block of pretty dark color. So agree. Best to get that in or at least available so you can understand what impact will be.
