I think I would go with a matchstick blind and then white or oak stools - or else use the stools to introduce a pop of color into your kitchen - and pull that color in one or two more times. We just used blue Ercol stools from Rejuvenation, and have been happy with them!

I think I'd place color pattern fabric at the window treatment . Whatever you have budget for. From custom roman shades to a large valance w solar shade or blinds or cafe sheers underneath. But color in a pattern or stripe or even one solid color. Bar stools vary so much. And it's rather an investment like your cabinets. Backs or swivel ? Wood or metal ? I would look at furniture store offerings first for wood ... I think that would add some needed warmth. but if budget dictates you can move in a different direction. Craig's list ....etc as well .

How about a green for the stools in a color like the greenery outside. A nice roman blind with the same green in afabric print.
