I think a pantry would be the perfect place for them, and they'd look nifty with butcher block counters.

We used white Bodbyn in our pantry and laundry room with butcher block counters, and painted the walls green, in our new house which we finished last last year.

No, that thread didn't come up when I searched! Thanks for the link! I'm even wondering what it would be like to do the Bodbyn white uppers and green lowers. I hate playing it safe on everything so maybe this is a good way to liven it all up a bit ;) The best part is that the doors could easily be switched out or painted in 5-10 years if we tired of it. And I do love green. I'm considering having our house painted green when we do our project :)

I love the green! It’s my favorite color. I suspect it may look a bit darker in a home kitchen rather than an artificially lit professionally photographed one. Bodbyn is a thermofoil. I’m a fan of some of the newer HP thermofoil, but that isn’t what IKEA uses. I would have concerns about long term wear with a darker traditional thermofoil wrap. Therefore, I would stress test a sample before committing. I’m just excited about COLOR making inroads.

A yellow Bodbyn would be fun, too!

We did see the gray Bodbyn on display and originally, that's what we were SURE we'd get if we went with IKEA but the new brown Grimslov really looked nicer in person. The gray Bodbyn display did have some nicks on it so we were somewhat skeptical of its durability.

I'll definitely without final decision making until seen in person but I'm excited over the possibility of doing something fun and little unexpected in the pantry :)

shead - the grey Bodbyn has nicks in it because the display has been in the store for more than 3 years. With thousands of people, roaming through the displays daily, their full shopping carts with things sticking out, whacking into cabinets here and there. During my last Ikea visit, there were what looked to be a bunch of 5 to 7 year old kids climbing on to the countertops using open drawers as stairs. By the way, once they had run off and I checked out those drawers, they didn't seem the worse for wear. :-)

The new brown Grimslov just hasn't yet had to endure the daily abuse dished out by shoppers, their carts and their kids.

By the way, I absolutely love that yummy green. Love that it 'll take commitment, as it's not another wishy-washy shade of sagey green.

pippabean, I've also seen people in our Ikea using kitchen knives etc. to see "how well" the cabinets stand up to nicks : / .

The green Bodbyn for me evokes a bit one of my favorite deVOL kitchens, their Peckham Rye,

I think the green Bodbyn would look great with brass pulls, and a butcher block or white (marble or quartz or Corian or laminate etc) countertop.

Another green fan here : ) . We have green siding, and green walls in the laundry room, pantry, and two bathrooms in the new house. Though they're all more of a mossy green. Paint colors are BM Sycamore Tree and Grasslands.

I really love BM Grasslands a lot! I once had a bathroom similar in green to the Sycamore Tree and I remember our painter at the time said that over the years, he'd collected color choices from different clients that, to him, were "Wow!" and after he painted that bathroom, he said, "Shead's Spanish Moss has made the list!"

I also like the sagey greens. BM Texas Sage is one I've used before,

Shead--I love green and I am also eyeing this green version of the Bodbyn fronts. I first saw it on the UK website. I then thought it was available in Canada, but now I do not see it on their website. I was actually considering the 5+ hour drive to my nearest Canadian Ikea to see it in person (I think I have too much time on my hands :)) I already have a kitchen-full of off-white Grimslov cabinets in my house waiting to be installed. 1906 home. We have fir floors and will have maple butcherblock countertops throughout or just on the perimeter, with soapstone on the island. I was looking at this green for the island and/or the row of shallow pantry cabinets that will be by themselves along one wall. At this point, I am sure we will just proceed as planned, but I won't rule out changing out some fronts down the road.

Anyone who sees this in person or, even better, uses it, please post pictures! The way it looks on my monitor on the UK website would look great with wood tones, brass, marble. I am not sure how it would play with true white, but then I am not good with color.

Oh, and Beckysharp, thanks for the paint colors! I may need to get my green fix via paint and/or backsplash.

klynneg, you're very welcome : ) . Just check to see how they look on your walls with your light first. I have Sycamore Tree and Grasslands in two rooms on opposite sides of our kitchen hall -- for me in rural Alberta, Grasslands looks best in the north facing room and Sycamore Tree looks best in the south facing room. Most people who visit the house think they're the same color, but they're not.

@klynneg, I was told by the salesclerk in Cincinnati that they were going come out with the green in September so fingers crossed that we won't have to wait long to see it in person! My closest IKEA is 4.5-5 hours, though :(

Ikea for us is a six-hour round-trip, but we got all of our bathroom vanities (and matching tall storage cabinets) there, and also the cabinets for our kitchen, pantry, and laundry room, and also the granny suite kitchen and pantry/laundry room, all on sale. It was worth the drive and then some! And our whole family can now assemble Ikea cabinets with our eyes closed : ) .

Shead, I'm doing a green lowers/white uppers kitchen...not Ikea. It's been my dream for years and I'm finally getting it....so excited that I can barely stand it! Comment here when Ikea has the green cabinets on display, I live 5 min from Ikea and can take some pictures for you :)

Shead--thank you for the time frame! I would not be surprised if we have not installed our island by then. We have hit a snag with our floors...

When we did our first Ikea kitchen 10 years ago (?!), we were 2-3 hours from our nearest Ikea and picked up all the cabinets ourselves. This time around, we are only 15-20 minutes away, but had them all delivered for under $70. It is nice being close, but I am finding it leads me to more indecision. As in, "oh, I can just change those two 18 inch cabinets to one 36 inch cabinet; I just have to run to Ikea and exchange them (which realistically takes a couple of hours). I was also more organized when I knew I had a long drive ahead of me if (when) I forgot something.

I would absolutely do the green for a pantry. It’s a safe place for a bolder color, in that if it gets old to you, it’s not in a main living area, and you likely have fewer cabinets there, so you can more easily and affordable swap out doors if you do want something different.

plus, I love the look of that green!

Well, DH has absolutely nixed any green cabinets for us but the Bodbyn green is LIVE on the US website!!!
