Kitchen Glamourization

last modified: 7 years ago

We have a 20+ year old house with the standard cabinetry in the kitchen and bathrooms. Medium oak with no hardware and antique bronze hinges.
In the kitchen we had already replaced the vinyl floor with tile, the formica countertop with Uba Tuba granite and painted the walls Benjamin Moore "November Rain". Painting the cabinets and new lighting were the final steps. Painting cabinets is NOT a project for the impatient if you want the best results. We washed, sanded, primed and painted at least 2 coats on every surface. It took us three weeks since we both work full time. New flush mount overhead lights, a pretty pendant over-the-sink light & new curtains (not pictured) completed the look I wanted. Well worth the effort for an updated, brighter kitchen. I am thrilled with the results! Cabinet paint colour is Benjamin Moore Advance "Winterwood". Amerock knobs and cup pulls in brushed nickel. I rarely use the ceiling fan...shall I just get rid of it?

I wouldnt get rid of the ceiling fan. Can be useful in the kitchen!

If you just abandon the fan/don't replace it with anything you will have a flat metal plate on your ceiling. You can't abandon and sheet rock over the electric box. Which would you rather have? Love the window trim!!

Actually, if I did get rid of the fan, I would replace with another flush mount.- but Lion Windows and Doors is right too. Window trim came with the window! Unfortunately I have to put up some kind of curtain so I hung tea towels up to coordinate with my cannisters.
