Wondering if it is correctly labeled. Tok Flavo should have more puckering. Was the label in the correct place?

Very awesome hostas, I do know that slugs don"t crawl over crushed eggshells and grit, and crushed seashells! So i have seen it work, but it must be everywhere! So good luck!

It never occurred to me that the Morton Arboretum had it tagged wrong but apparently that is the case. After the two postings questioning the veracity of the photo I checked with our friend Google and it is surely something other than Flavocircinalis. Ooops.

No biggie your original idea was spot on tho. Tok flav is a great hosta. More people should have it. It's a beauty.

Even in arboretums, tags get moved, knocked down and mixed up by the maintenance people or other helpers. We were recently at a botanical garden in Hawaii where a crew was cleaning labels (scrubbing them with little brushes!) and they had said they had to just do one at a time to be sure they got put back in the right place. Yes.

I have tried eggshells and coffee grounds and they have not worked. I have also read about slugs the the bug people have said that they don’t deter. However I am happy you have had success with these options mjkjrobinson. I don’t know how many hostas you have, but I believe I would need an egg truck for all the hostas I have. It’s back breaking as well.

Yeah I tried eggshells and coffee grounds and neither worked. For many years, I had a live and let live philosophy. But last year, my hostas just looked so pathetic that this year, I decided to fight back. I bough the slug pellets and they really do seem to deter the all-you-can-eat slug buffet.

Since it is an arboretum where the public visits and may be seeking ideas for their own garden, I would be inclined to send the picture to them and ask them to verify the information on their label for the benefit of their visitors. :-)
