We are in northern california and our backyard is all clay soil, no grass yet. We are thinking about planting micro clover or just white clover because it's supposedly more drought resistant, self fertilizing, and grows well in clay soil. Also planting regular grass sod would require top soil and a lot of work. Has anyone planted this kind of micro clover or clover lawn from seed in clay soil? What is needed to prepare the soil? I'm not thinking of mixing with grass, just full on clover. Any tips appreciated!
