Nothing here looks bad, but -- at the same time -- nothing says, "This is a special place!" My thoughts:

- You need color.

- Love the brick wall. I'd choose a color to play up on it, but I don't know what color that might be. Sage green? Sorry, color isn't my strong point.

- I don't 'specially love the flooring ... but since it appears to be good quality, I'd go with large rugs to downplay it.

- Wow, the storage! What if you painted those doors an exciting color? And add some interesting knobs (hardware is cabinets' jewelry).

- I like the giraffe picture, but somehow I don't think it "pops" in this space. Maybe if the background wall was colorful?

- Add some greenery.

- I wouldn't do a thing to the vanity, toiletry or window.

Yes I agree with a colorful rug I have tried a few just haven’t found the right one yet and I love the idea of greenery! Painting the cabinets could work. Would you paint the door the same color as well? It will be white once it’s painted

Oooh the drama! You can’t see it but the wall extends much further where I have wall hooks going towards the door. It’s a lot of wall! It won’t be too much if I paint it all charcoal?

It's almost like 2 bathrooms. The first photo shows a bath and then the second photo does not correlate with the first. For starters, can you replace the light? It looks too small.

@shirlpp yes it’s a narrow bathroom I had to squeeze in the tub to get the photos. It’s possible I can change out the light.

You have a brownish brick wall next to a shower with white tile, gray floor tiles, a brownish vanity, a mirror and artwork framed in the same hue as the vanity. Bringing in another element like wallpaper is not going to help with your concern about it being plain.

Switch out cabinet knobs to something bolder - black or in a colored glass. Also a rug that matches the curtain stripe.

@sergiel oh yes I can see where matte black knobs would look nice on the vanity! Do you think they would be too strong on the white linen cabinet?

How about a color palette from this rug I found — paint the walls one of the colors. But note how the rugs palette brings in the colors of the brick wall and the floor while brightening everything up

I think the contrast is what you need so go for it.

With all the white (cabinets, tub, etc) I think making it all charcoal will be quite dramatic and fun and it will really help highlight the brick.

Because I have a rental I usually have to start with a rug or a shower curtain that speaks to me. I went on Target and found this really wild and bold shower curtain based on color selection and pattern type. I don’t recommend it to you since I don’t know your style but the sky is the limit!!

The Mirror needs to be the same shape as the giraffe picture. Their frames need to be about the color of the floor or sink faucet? You could add some wall paper behind them both in a soft print that uses the soft yellow and the rose in your current bathroom with a pretty background..

Just 2 that were fun to look at ...there are many many more, and if you just put them around your water closet and your vanity..you could even paint the wall from the height of the varity to the floor in a dark neutral that matches your floor? painting the vanity the same color.....or use the white from your storage built ins on the vanity & I guess your wall is that color now too anyways..... and place that paper only above that point on that small wall, from the ceiling down to the top of the vanity line. Than see what kind of matching mirror frame and picture frame ...you could go that dark charcoal gray tone? and find a light fixture that coordinates in tone with your faucet/floor that you have now. Good luck in making it a more interesting space. Keep us posted.

@redsilver great suggestions! I unfortunately am trying to make everything work I can swap out the picture! I cannot got refunded for the rest and budget is tight (we are about to get an attorney for a project a contractor messed up and won’t fix we have a lot of money tied into that right now) I’d like to even tile halfway down or wainscoat halfway down and wallpaper halfway up. Like the whimsical prints it’s my girls restroom

@beverly just because all of the walls in our house are that color we did it with intentions of painting differently down the road we renovated a whole house so everything is a blank canvas at this point! I love the grey

Wallpaper next to brick, huh? I don't think so. Pattern with pattern, although you could have run the floor tile up the wall behind the sink and toilet successfully.
