How often does anyone sit in the chairs for longer than it takes to tie their shoes?

What activities do you want in this room? Morning coffee? Staging area for family trips? Away room for adults with no tv noise?

How about a 2-seater glider bench instead of the chairs? Gliding is fun.

And IKEA has some white modular wardrobe/closet pieces that might provide attractive storage for some of the larger items you need to keep out there.

The hall tree shown by njmomma is a perfect example of hooks and cubbies.

Here's an experiment to try, making the room into two separate areas. Put all the kid stuff on one side of the room. Move the colorful rug to the other side. Then put the chairs on the rug facing toward one of the windows, looking away from the kid stuff. Move the tiny table in between. Have a cocktail. See if you like the arrangement.

I love apple pie's idea of dividing the room. Let the area between the two doors become the area where the "stuff" goes. Do what you can to organize. Then face the seating toward the slider and make that the relaxation area. I agree the space has a lot of potential!

Be patient! I wouldn't want to invest too much time and effort into changes just yet. The stroller and wagon - the big things you deal with every day now - are not going to be in the picture a lot longer, and when your kids outgrow them, they may be ready to hang out with you on the porch, so additional seating will be needed.

I think you are trying to make this room serve too many functions. To me this would be a perfect mud room, especially for a growing family. You & your husband can use the living room for cocktails, that's what it's for. A mud room will prevent the mess from outdoors from coming into the house.

I appreciate the desire to sit by a window in the early evening. I'm guessing the OP spends enough time in the living room already.

My DH and I like to eat dinner on the deck in the summer - even though we have a dining room for eating.

What a cute space! I agree, lots of potential. It must be pleasant to sit there in the early evening and get a pulse of the neighbourhood. Is there any room in the garage for the strollers and wagon? That's where I parked mine. Otherwise, could you confine them all to one wall and perhaps use a curtain (or a screen) to hide them? (Your lights gave me the curtain idea.) As @AnnKH mentioned, those daily necessities aren't forever and I wouldn't invest much in storage solutions for them. Here's an Apartment Therapy feature on stylish shoe storage for entries. You know your family's habits best: would closed storage work or is open easier/better? A bookcase might be all you need for the shoes. Bookcases are usually 12 inches deep. (What size are your largest shoes?) Find an inexpensive vintage one with style you like or buy an inexpensive new one at Ikea and transform it to your liking. Not sure if the chairs are too big for the space but they don't look that comfy to me.

Remove everything from the room that isn't absolutely necessary, like the hanging lanterns and the rectangular glass table. Then group together the items that must be stored there - like the stroller. Since you have a garage, try using garage wall hooks to store your fold up outdoor chairs in there instead. You can use shelves or a cabinet the full floor to ceiling height for storage, or maybe a long bench with baskets underneath for shoe storage. You have the whole back wall to work with. That still leaves you room for the chairs that you like to sit in.
