Are you quilting this weekend? Sept. 1

Hello Quilters! This has been another busy week. I took a Kaye England class on Wednesday. She was the speaker at our guild meeting on Tuesday and taught a workshop on Wed.. On Friday I was invited to sew at a friend's home. She is a long-arm quilter and has a wonderful sewing studio. I'm so happy to be making new friends here in Columbus. The hardest part of moving was leaving all my quilting friends.

I have been working on several projects this summer and now am getting to the finishing stage for the quilt tops. Feels good to finally see them come together.

Today I am fixing a birthday dinner for my SIL but hope to get some sewing in this afternoon.

I am not sewing but have been trying to post the Sept. BOM. I have tried three times with no success. Will keep at it.

I sewed a few hours last night and finished the top and backing for the coin quilt. Hope to sandwich it this afternoon. I really want to finish this quilt and one that is already to sandwich from last year, then I'll catch up on the BOMs I missed.

I'm piecing the final border for my postage stamp top. We've done all the hurricane prep and are just waiting for it to finally get here and be done! My heart goes out to the Bahamas - the 11:00 update says it's up to 180 mph winds! I can't even imagine.

I am working tomorrow (yippee holiday pay!) so that we can get payroll finished and sent off to the bank and the tax people before Dorian gets here. Current plan is for the office to be closed Tues & Weds, If we don't lose power I'll probably be sewing! :)

I got half of my Strip Twist quilt quilted yesterday. I had to stop after a couple of hours. My body gets so tensed up that even my toes curl up in my shoes. I was going to continue on Jared Takes a Wife last night, but I got involved in a simple baby quilt that I thought I'd make called Emma's Star. I had a bunch of pastel jelly roll batiks that I'd gotten in a scrap bag years ago, and I've been looking for a pattern for them. Emma's Star is a good option. I'm sure I'll be back at it after our company leaves this evening. We're having friends over for dinner and a boat ride if weather permits. Have a nice holiday, everyone. Donna I envy you having to go to work to take your mind off of the hurricane. I live in Brooksville, hopefully free from Dorian but you never know when these things will defy the professional weathermen with their spaghetti strings and make a move not planned for. I won't be breathing easy until this thing is well North of here. I've been trying to make a dent in my scrap bins - I'm doing a pieced backing with some strips sewn on paper like Bonnie Hunter does all the time. I have quite a bit to do yet but when I get done I'll have a reversible quilt - both using scrap strips but completely different on each side. I still haven't decided if I'm going to put batting in the middle or do something to make it a lightweight Summer quilt. I hope everyone here in FL remember to let everyone know how they came through the storm when it's over. I'll try to if I have power, of course.
