Honestly? For that time period, there is no crystal ball. Maybe you'd get some opinions on whether they'd last 4 or 5 years trouble-free, but 12 vs 15 years?

I just bought another Bosch. The old one was 10-11 years old. If you get Bosch get one with the real buttons.

Not this. It takes more touches to start and restart and doesn’t work well with wet hands.

A lot of them “require” salt now as well, although I don’t see any difference in cleaning with or without. Drying isn’t quite as good with the new one even with the extra dry button. It does clean really well though but just more fidgety. I like the third upper shelf. Their website was very difficult to use to determine which of the many models you want. I don’t see this one lasting as long with the touch buttons.

The salt is for water-softeners that are built-in. If you don't have hard water, it's not needed.

On average Most dishwashers will last 7-8 years. A Bosch or a Miele will last 10-12 years. Depending on usage YMMV.

When you see a saleman saying an appliance will last 20 years they do not mean they will last that long without occasional repairs.

My Maytag dates to 1990 and a couple things don't work just right but she runs. Never find that kind of longevity these days. Figured I'd wait till it really craps out before I buy today's crap. :-]

My KA is going on 15 years. I just know that once in a great while (2+ years) it needs to be cleaned out around the pump intake. Happens whenever the upper rack stuff gets dirty.

Our last dishwasher lasted nearly 20 years. But I’d never recommend a brand today based on a brand’s past performance. They truly don't make them as well ..and if you don’t believe me, ask a reputable repair person before you purchase a new machine.

As for longevity of current models, it’s anyone's guess. For what it’s worth, we like our Bosch...very quiet, does a great job.

No one makes them like the old Hobart KitchenAids. The $300 builder economy ones are lucky to get 5 years. You might get 7-12 years out of a more upper end 2K one before the repairs start. At that point , what usually happens for the 2K ones is that parts get replaced for a while, because so much was spent on it on the front end. That goes on for a while, and until someone could have bought half to three fourths of a new one with the repair money.

The 1K ones, just get replaced on the second major repair. It ends up being better on a pure economic cost per use level to buy a mid cost model than an upper end model. Unless you are the one handy enough to repair. That resets things, because it’s the repair labor that ends up to be the biggest expense.

Or, you’re in a bracket that doesn’t blink twice at spending 2 K every 7-10 years on a DW. Or you live in a bracket that a $300 one gets replaced with hand asking if it breaks. The only over analyzers are in the middle.

Keeping that pump screen cleaned out makes a huge difference. Mine had a decade of crud, mostly paper fiber from labels I think, plus lime scale, so much that water wasn't filtering through fast enough to feed the pump. Thought it had a weak pump but it was just a clogged filter.

My Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer is 16 years, has had a few repairs that I have DIYed.

The machine is ca. 1989-90. Amazing it's still going, but there are only two of us, and we load it full so as to run fewer loads. I expect any replacement ain't going to last like this one did!

My 16 year old KA is going strong. I did replace the motor about 5 years ago for about $300 and it's been fine since.

We ended up purchasing a Bosch 800 series 39 dba machine, not the newest model. It was available quickly and we're installing it today.
