What do you plan for window treatments? I think they need something more than just the blinds, but I don't think it should be anything too "much". I like the minimalist approach so far.

For your plant(s), go with something that has interesting large leaves. Monstera (1st picture) or a Philodendron with big leaves (2nd picture) maybe? That will bring in a natural element and texture and interesting shapes without going over the top with patterned fabrics. Choose pots in a color that compliments your artwork.

If you add a console table you could also add a small bar cabinet on a smaller wall.

What an absolutely gorgeous room (and view). Keep it minimal, no drapes, no rug. One mid mod credenza, one statement plant, and I would replace the current light with the Nelson pendant. It's perfect for this space. (Excuse me for leaving your credenza in the middle of the room, but my program doesn't move furniture.)

Lucky you to have such a pretty room and view. Buffet/credenza under the picture would be nice if you can repeat the same simple lines. as the table and chairs. No rug but a more colorful centerpiece on the table - maybe a runner. I wondered about a baker's rack to the left of the window - could add some height and some color depending on what it displays versus what it stores. I might consider shortening up the chandelier chain and removing the shade as a start - though I really think something more dramatic is called for. I would not do a window treatment unless you need light and privacy control.

I would suggest a round table. But, if staying with that one a 8 x10 area rug in a contemporary graphic design. In some bold colors Add chest under pic, try a red one something with weight and 6-7 long.or a reclaimed wood. Add tall candle sticks to end. Some nice wine bottles and glasses to top. Be good for storage. Add panels to end of window only. Floor to ceiling, in a trellis, color block or chevon print. Pick accent color and go with it on windows, rug and accessories. Yr light should be bigger and lower. A funky drum style,mix it up. Make it interesting. You can add some fabric chairs to each end. Maybe zebra.

I would pull table more into the center of rm. you are shaging the light so don't have to Stay in in that area.

You might have to lower pic after you get chest in rm. also extend rod for panels pass windows by 6-7"

Shelves on the wall would be nice!

How about a bar/console. And I would change out the lighting for something bigger and darker. Maybe some black framed art vertical on the naked corner wall

what look are you wanting? surely an octagonal table is the go to match and feature the window? What style is the rest of the home? Design is about marrying concepts to compiment the entire house, not just have one room that is a brilliant feature...how many people do you wish to have dine here, are children sitting within the space? do you want to emphasise the table or the wall or the outside? what are your considerations here...

I don't care for the placement of the table. It makes the room off balance. I would recenter it under the location of the original ceiling fixture box.

The star of this room is the view. That is why I say keep it minimal. No drapes because that implies cutting off the view. Keep the table where it is, perfectly positioned for the view. And this would be a rare time I might consider a mirror over the sideboard (though I like the art very much) to reflect...the VIEW!

I think your ideas are perfect! A circular rug would look great with maybe two large standing flower arrangements on both sides of the window. I would just add pops of color through accessories and art instead of painting the walls :)

You could even move that back chair to the other side and do a built in bench going along with the shape of the window

What I am seeing here from all the comments is the enomous amount of options that you have available to you, and with a professional trained designer by your side, you would be able to easily and effortlessly achieve an inviting, reflection of who you are and how you wish your family and guests to relax and enjoy eating with you. where are you located, i suggest you seek and pay for professional personal assistance.

Please don't move the table. Your chairs are gorgeous, as is your view! Have you thought about moving the big mirror to the wall where the picture is now, so it could reflect that view? It could go sideways over a long, low buffet. I like the idea of a big leaved plant in the corner; schefflera (Queensland umbrella tree) is big, easy to grow, period appropriate, and architectural looking. If you want to stay with mcm, I think the Nelson pendant is perfect, but if you want something contemporary, how about an assymetric minimalist chandelier- I'll try to find a pic of what I am thinking about.

I think a console would be a great addition....I know someone mentioned it, but the space really screams for a round table....I'd keep the chairs and find something in a similar tone as the chairs to ground the space. I'd also add a rug and some light linen side panels to the window.

I'd want the mirror to reflect the view and would reverse it and the art. Rather than a standard credenza, try an interesting vertical piece on that wall left of the window. Add an exciting rug that is 4 feet wider and longer than the table top.

I'd put a rug under the dining table and a floating console under the art. Then for the chandelier, I'd choose one that packs a punch in the room.

Finally! Someone who appears to share my passion for mid century modern. I recently re-did my lining room and dining room with a mixture of Danish modern pieces and 70's mod (with a nod to Bauhaus). The most challenging part is scale. Danish modern, which is what I see here so far, is a more petite scale. It's hard to scale furniture meant for the smaller Alexander, Meiselman, Eichler, Wexler, Krisel, Neutra homes to more modern-scaled homes. If you like Danish modern, or a mix of moderns, then you will need to use wall and ceiling colors and artwork to visually bring your room down to scale. I am fortunate to have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to artwork, so I let that reign in the scale.

I see a huge floor mirror. I wonder whether it belongs here as it dwarfs the scale of the dining set and the beautiful painting. A MSM credenza--a fairly big one (like mine pictured) would be a great start. Consider mixing old a new (or newer).

An overdyed Turkish carpet or patchwork carpet may put a fresh complexion?

Some fun pieces. The room is big enough that you could incorporate a pre-post dinner casual seating area. Maybe add a vintage working stereo and son Frank records. Sip a cocktail.

Go for vintage if you can. It basically never looses value and they don't build them like they used to! I got my teak credenza at a vintage shop in town, and it had been completely refinished, for $1,600. Craigslist is great. I've even purchased chair off eBay and had great luck (although shipping can be a killer!)

How about a buffet under the artwork and an area rug under the table and chairs? Love your idea to use a plant near the table. What a great window! How about a more substantial light fixture and maybe some draperies to pull around at night. The window is great during the day, but they can turn into a black hole at night...lol. You could customize the track to follow the shape of the window.

Love the clean lines of the chairs and the artwork. Its amazing what some paint, artwork, rug, curtains and a new light fixture can do to a room...I added in some pieces including our Galaxy fused glass pendant light over the table.
