I was going to post this question on the bug forum With a picture of the ones jumping around my yard z5sewi. Mine aren’t necessarily Hugh just a lot more than usual. Also a different type. A couple of years ago I had little light green ones....pretty. But the one a took a pic of is brown and ugly.

You have inspired me to take some pictures of the larger-than-life ones in my yard! I just came across one that was like something out of a 1950s bad horror film about giant bugs!

I posted on insects too. You might want to do the same.

Grasshopper numbers seem to vary a lot from year to year and area to area. This year not so many in aurora and very few in Westminster.

That's so weird gjcore, because I live quite close to Westminster and they are eating everything here.

They're really bad here this year, they're eating tomatoes and iris. I scattered a big bag of Nolo bait around the perimeter of the property when I spotted them. It was probably late May/early June when they started hatching.

I did the perimeter as I'd been advised not to lure them in by laying bait in the beds. Next year I'll put it down everywhere as I think they are laying eggs all through the property. I've come to the conclusion that I'm not luring them in, they're being hatched here in the beds. I'm glad the Nolo bait plant is back in business after they burned down in 2017. I think not having the bait last year created a banner year for them this year.

chickens took care of good bit. set the guinea to target the eggs when they are in autumn. free range as many as you can (feed limited, then they will go for it).

Haha..no room for chickens or guineas here.
