Grafting fruit trees

Jeremy Smart

We have just had a specialised grafter come in to graft 1500 trees. Split grafting

Just wondering if it is normal for a grafter to not seal his own grafts?

He came in on a day when it was forecast 20mm of rain, grafted 50 trees and left when the rain was too heavy. He left all grafts unsealed.

Moving forward would it be ok for me to leave these grafts to dry out and then use a sealer that contains a fungicide?

I was thinking to use my small blower to blow any excess water out of the split.
