Aren’t they amazing? I have to look really hard for them, sometimes not realizing one is right in front of my face. :)

Just got back home and see some more of them (babies). They’re eating fast, the plants are already looking “stalky”.

Just to show the plant starting to look bare. It does make me a bit sad, I love the flowers, but that’s nature. Plus, I’m not able to overwinter these, they’d be starting to decline in another month anyway.

Update —

The Penta Apocalypse has ended. It took about 48 hours for complete defoliation.

All of yesterday, our house looked like a sci-fi horror movie. Big, fat caterpillars were covering our driveway, front door, garage door, going inside the garage, etc. I’ve never seen so many in my life. Next year, I’m going to plant the pentas out back. :D

Great thread......so the cats start out brown, but turn green as they munch.......remarkable camouflage! Will you find the cocoons nearby?

I’m not sure, sorry to say there won’t be many moths ... we had Armadillos come through tearing up our yard for grubs and I could tell they rampaged this bed, too. Ugh! They were probably eating these cats all night. I was so sad to see that they’d been here.

I will look for cocoons, though. I saw some cats burying themselves under the mulch. Hopefully they were able to hide from the Armadillos. :)
