If theres something in there a fox wants, they will dig a small hole under the fence and squeeze in. Thats how they got into our chicken runs. We had to add a perimeter/skirt of wire around the fence line.

So maybe just dig a hole under the fence in one area. The deer wont go under it. Maybe you can lure the fox into the hole initially by leaving out a hotdog or an egg. Around here, foxes love eggs once they get a taste of them. Stray cats etc might not be attracted to eggs. You may have to crack a few just slightly so the fox can smell them and learn what they are, if he isnt familiar with them.

Thanks for the comment. We hope to keep chickens eventually so a hot dog may be the better choice. Currently we are redoing our deer fence with the first four vertical feet being field fence. Chances are a fox could get through but the openings are smaller toward the bottom so we are leaving some openings here and there.

Fox can carry rabies. Be careful.

A four ft. fence is not a barrier for deer, hate to tell you. If you watch deer in the wild, like in my back pastures, you'd see them easily jump 6-8ft. no problem. My 54" no climb fences are easily scaled by deer all the time. And foxes frequently dig their own holes under the fence to get to where they want to go.

Bring a terrier with you. If they can find their way in and out of the garden, so will the fox.

The little terrier won't find its way out quickly, it would cry, then a coyote pack should be in sight racing against hawks in the air......and hunters, cops, news reporters would all be at the site.........
