It definitely is not Dr. Huey.

If it only recently bloomed it's NOT The Dr. He's a one-time Spring bloomer.

Yes this is the first time it bloomed. It had a very slow start. Hm, so maybe neither Huey or Lincoln?

Should be able to tell by the foliage characteristics and where on the plant the canes sprang from if it is 'Huey' rootstock.

Here is Dr. Huey. I let him grow for several years just out of curiosity. Quite lovely in bloom but a terrible BS magnet immediately after blooming!

The pinkish shades in the pic are due to the camera and the lighting--not natural to the plant itself.

I've seen 'Huey' that weren't as dark as others in my area also.

Has anyone seen Dr. Huey bloom this late in the season? I have some which may show colour variation in pictures, but is quite consistent in person.

I'm with Cynthia. That probably is Mr. Lincoln. I don't know where you are but if it's been abnormally hot there it would cause this type of bloom. Old Abe was terrible in my yard too and i wasn't sorry to see him go.

Photos of 'Huey' at above link show a few with very similar structure and coloring to flower asked about. I have seen it blooming in my area at times I thought were odd for a spring bloomer. But the foliage is pretty distinctive among familiar kinds, plus there is of course the frequency with which remains of the scion from which they are coming up from beneath are still present. What OP needs to do in order to move the thread to where they get their question well answered is to post good pictures of the foliage and canes of the variety at question.
