The joys with grey. It picks up and reflects the ambient light and gives you a different hue than you intended, particularly at the blue end of the spectrum. I have Alabaster as a trim and like it, but I’d recommend getting a sample pot, priming a 6’x6’ section of your wall and putting on two coats of your trial paint and live with it for a couple of days.

Thanks, but my real question is about coordinating colors. I guess I didn’t say we are painting our whole first floor the above palette. I like the other colors so far, but the Agreeable Gray in the North facing room isn’t working.

What might be a better color for a North facing room that would work in the above color palette? Would it be totally crazy to go with a yellow or coral or something with some pop?

I’m updating here for a color question: would it be crazy to use a paint palette that includes griege and cream walls? I like griege but don’t want to fully commit to it in my whole house.

First, I don’t think it’s crazy to use greige and cream for your palette. However, just be careful with using something almost white like Alabaster in the north facing room, because it will look blah.
My kitchen is north facing with lots of windows but woods behind us. I used BM Edgecomb Gray and it doesn’t look purple or anything else. Another greige to try if you want to stick with greige.

Search Pinterest for paint for north facing rooms. I have researched this extensively since my battle 15 years ago, and i am facing it again. Natural north lighting will cast a gray hue and change paint color with low LRV.

Thank you. I think I’m going to stick with Agreeable Gray in our north-facing dining room. The Alabaster is our trim color. I’ll use the Natural Linen in the kitchen perhaps or living room. I’ll check out Edgecomb Gray.

Does shiitake have green undertones or is it pretty neutral?

I feel like it’s pretty neutral. If anything it may be a bit browner than some of the ones you have been looking at.

The permanent fixtures in our house are warm/brown so we needed a very warm graige in order for it not to seem blue or lavender.

I love the shiitake! What I decided is to stick with the current color (Agreeable Gray) in the north facing room but go a bit darker in the other rooms (Amazing Gray). I’m going to see how it all looks when it’s done. Might have him repaint with Shiitake if I can’t live with it. Thanks for that color option!

North light, (gray/blue/cold) does nothing for grays, greens, or blues. An undertone which, I have found it perfect, is something with purple.
