I would leave it alone.

You could mix water with white paint and go over it - it will add a very light white hue - give it a more 'beachwood' look. Eliminate some of the yellow.

It doesn't matter what anyone else would do! You also haven't shown us what the rest of the space looks like, what the furnishings are, house style, location, etc. It might look better as is, whitewashed or painted, but you can't make those decisions in a vacuum, which is what you are asking others to do.

I personally think this is too much wood. I would paint it.

Paint it. Wood has too many knots.

Whitewashing will NOT eliminate the knots. They will bleed through.
