Paint will make a huge difference. Color? Hard to say, I see green in adjacent room, what else in there? Maybe art in lieu of plate rack & metal object next to China cabinet. You can go in a lot of different directions since carpet, chair upholstery, etc. neutral. mi want to reupholster chairs depending upon colors chosen.

I love your furniture! My favorite neutral is SW Nomadic Desert which is a darker ' tan". If you prefer lighter you could go with SW Kilim Beige. They work very well with natural trim. I would paint first and then decide on other elements

Thank you both for your input! I very much appreciate it! The rest of the house is painted a tan/brown even though my camera is presenting as green. I also love color, can you tell? lol! I'm also wondering if I should move the hutch since it's such a bulky piece of furniture and maybe makes the room look even smaller than what is already is.

And also, yes, all the stuff on the walls is going 'bye bye'! Just want a clean, well put together room for a change!!

How about a traditional wallpaper? In the meantime, prime the walls so that the red reflections don't affect your new samples.

Whitewall would generally go well with the wooden flooring so we have kept it as it. You can play around with wall color, wallpapers, and floor color till you find the perfect match here.

I think changing out your chairs in this room would make a big impact also.

I agree with njmomma about swapping out the chairs. maybe with upholstered backs in a beautiful design, because that's what you see when walking into the room.

How about a soft wall color with lovely patterned linen drapes? You also use the fabric to line the onside of your breakfront and cover up the mirror which I think is dating your room. Another suggestion: remove half of what you have in the breakfront for a cleaner look.

I would say "transitional" rather than "traditional." Do you love and plan to keep the chandelier? I think the idea of priming the walls first so you can properly judge color samples is valid. Consider making adjustments in the lighting to help with color decisions in proper light as well.
