I have a raised new construction home that we are slowly finishing as we live in it. We have a 10'x23' inset front porch that has railings, deck and stairs that need staining. There is also a very large back porch (12' x50') that wraps around one side of the house. The back porch also has stained cedar wrapped posts and my plan was to stain (oil based) the treated pine decking and railings to match the cedar posts.

The problem I am discovering is that the front porch is very close to our two pecan trees and between the wind, the dog, the squirrels, and an overzealous hen I am ending up with pecan shells and leaves staining the front steps and porch. I am afraid if I stain the front a light orangey cedar color I will not be happy. I am considering going darker on the front to disguise the pecan stains

Would it be strange to stain the front and back decks/rails/stairs different colors?? Because the front is inset they really can't be seen at the same time. Getting rid of the pecans, the dog or the wind isn't an option. I will consider the hen.
